1. Must be at least 18 years old

2. Must be willing to complete a Diploma of Aviation (Diploma to be a certified air traffic controller), it may take up to 12 to 14 months with an organization named “Airservices Australia”. This course provides theoretical and practical scenarios with the use of simulators and tutoring from highly experienced people

3. Must have skills:

  • Decision-making skills

  • Communication

  • Focusing on little details, Attention to Detail

  • Concentration

4. There is an alternative path on how to become an air traffic controller, you can take a course with the (RAAF) Royal Australian Air Force. To be offered to train with the RAAF you must undergo multiple tests, such as, cognitive ability test, aptitude test, and a day designated for assessments where you will undergo an interview, medical tests, and a police clearance.
