1. Go to a recruitment office 

​

2. Bachelor’s Degree (Degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, or chemistry. Aviation related degrees are the best to have) (You need a GPA of 2.5 is required but 3.4 is ideal and better)

​

3. 18-30 years old (35 in some special cases)

  • Must appear In front of a board before the age of 29 to be commissioned, and start training before the age of 30, but some cases you can start training before the age of 35

​

4. Between 5 feet 4 inches (162.56 cm) and 6 feet 5 inches (195.58 cm)

​

5. 20/40 in both eyes for near vision, and 20/200 for distant vision

  • Cannot be colorblind

  • Did not do a laser eye surgery

  • Does not have poor depth perception (Can see objects in 3 dimensions and determine their size and how far away is it from you)

​

6. Perfect hearing

​

7. Be able to withstand G’s of pressure without passing out or getting sick

​

8. Have no medical history of hay fever, asthma, or allergies after passing the age of 12

​

9. Have a healthy weight, meaning not overweight or underweight

​

10. Skills needed:

  • Know how to operate, control, and monitor complex equipment

  • Active listening (Understand the meaning and intention behind the words a person says)

  • Critical Thinking

  • Complex problem-solving

  • Comprehension

  • Decision-making and judgement

  • Time-management

  • Coordination

  • Analysis and evaluation 

  • Mathematics and reasoning

  • Quality control

11. Complete an Air Force Officer Qualifying Test which includes:

  • General Science

  • Reasoning

  • Arithmetic (Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)

  • Instrument comprehension

  • Verbal analogies

  • Mathematics

12. Pass physical testing

​

13. Pass background checks

​

14. Attend Officer training school

  • Pass the Air Force Physical Fitness Test

  • Attend classroom lessons

  • In-field training exercises

(You will be trained in land navigations, self-defense, first aid, tactical marching (Relocating your unit to an area to prepare for combat operations) and basic defense tactics. Currently officer training is at Maxwell Air Force Base located in Alabama)

15. Pass the initial flight training (Introduced to aviation basics) (Requirements needed before joining)

  • Flight physical

  • Student Pilot Certification

16. Undergraduate Pilot Training

  • You will be taught about navigation, formation flying, aerobatics, and how the instruments in the plane can be used.

  • Once done training you will be assigned a specific task to gain the skills required for the aircraft you want to fly
